On A Crusade To Find The Perfect Skincare Products?

July 21st, 2010

No single skin care product is the “best” one on the market. One reason is because we all have different types of complexions. Just because your significant other’s concoctions and potions work wonders for him/her does not mean you will benefit from the same jars. The cream that softens your mom’s face might leave you with hives. The actor’s miracle beauty routine may be something you are allergic to. Finding a product that meets your expectations is simply a matter of testing until you find the one that your face loves! The time you spend finding a match will be well worth it – just ask your beautiful body.

There are hundreds of skin care products on the market and they claim to do everything from clearing up acne to erasing wrinkles. But do they really work? Yes and no, because they’re very individualized. Even you and your twin sister may need different potions. To further complicate matters, what works for you today may be a disaster next week. So if your face is covered with ugly zits, how can you find a solution?

You should eliminate any other potential causes for adult break-outs, so it’s smart to see your doctor first. Your doctor may be able to help you pinpoint other contributors for any complexion problems you might have. Perhaps dietary changes or some exercise may be in order. Tests could reveal a deficiency in one or more vitamins. But if you have cannot seem to make any progress on your own, then making an appointment with your doctor may be a good place to start.

Next, you need to figure out the time commitment you are willing to give to your beauty regimen. Cleansing masks, exfoliating, and other such treatments require time – a lot of time. To persevere with these demands day in and day out requires a lot of discipline and persistence. Your schedule, your budget, and your individual needs can all be considered when experimenting to find the perfect creams and lotions for your unique body. Once you are aware of exactly what your body likes you might come to realize that you may have been wasting your time and money.

Look through consumer reporting periodicals. If you are searching for in-depth and accurate reviews for current popular products then this is where to start. Non-affiliated reviewers use the product and report back with an honest review. If you already know what brand you are looking into then consumer periodicals are indispensable. Skin care products that are made for your type (dry, oily or combination) can be quickly found using the charts included in the product description. Consumers turn to these publications because they always offer valuable and unbiased information.

Know your ingredients – and avoid the more dangerous and risky ones. Each ingredient is supposed to do something important to make you look beautiful so find out exactly how and why it’s supposed to help you. This will help you figure out which products are best for you just by looking at their labels.

Once you understand ingredients and their function, you will know that for breakouts you will choose something with salicylic acid. For people who don’t break out salicylic acid would be a truly bad idea. If you have a complexion that is sensitive to the sun then you would look for a product that contains sunscreen.

If you don’t have a delicate complexion you can use a free hand with these skin care products by using them lavishly. There are quite a few ways you can use to figure out which product may be best. Of course there are some who can use almost anything on their face and they look great (lucky them!). Then there are many others who require a little more support. Keep at it and eventually you will figure out which products work best for you and which products you should avoid.

Acne Scar Removal Improves Self-Esteem

July 13th, 2010

Scars caused by pimples have a vast influence on a person’s sense of being. One unavoidable – and awkward – experience that most of us endure during our adolescence is suffering from a bad crop of pimples. We had to weather the incriminating red pustules and the later scarring.

A case of acne is mainly caused when hair follicles become plugged with dirt and sebum. This blocked pore is an ideal place for bacterial growth; the bacteria cause those reddish pustules we call zits.

Once we recover from the zits, we have to deal with the scars. Although there are acne scars that grow lighter after some time, some scars do not. Living with these scars on our own faces can be a downheartening experience.

The 4 easily known types of pocking left over from skin breakouts are the following. Ice pick acne scars are marks identifiable by the pits formed on the skin. Another variety is called rolling scar; a wide, shallow depth is what identifies rolling acne scars. Boxcar-type acne scars are often found on the temples or the cheeks; they have angular and well-defined edges, similar to scars caused by chickenpox. Keloidal and hypertrophic acne scars are raised tissues on the the skin’s surface.

Controlled studies show that facial scarring can have high-impact psychological influence on the individual, such as low sense of self-worth, depression, and suicidal tendencies.

But there is no need to lose hope just yet. There are now numerous technological developments for the treatment of acne scars. Some of these treatments use a form of laser therapy. Other treatments call for some form of skin abrasion. Creams and injections are also marketed for the treatment of facial scars. Consult your doctor about the best facial removal and/or treatment method that will be viable for you.

Look To Acuvue Oasys Lenses For Help With Your Vision Needs

July 12th, 2010

Acuvue Oasys Lenses have helped many with vision challenges see better. If you would rather not wear eyeglasses, you can wear contact lenses. But up until now, if you had astigmatism, you had to wear only eyeglasses.

Up until now, people with this eye problem could not benefit from wearing contact lenses. The contact lens was for those who had problems with farsightedness or nearsightedness. But the new contact lens technology has helped produce a product for those with astigmatism.

It has taken researchers a long time to develop a contact lens that helps people with astigmatism, the product is now available. If you have this problem and have waited for a product so that you can take off your eyeglasses, your wait is over. Many people with this condition are able to live life without their eyeglasses for the first time since childhood.

You have the choice now to wear contact lenses if you have astigmatism. It is believed that one out of every three suffer from astigmatism. And the condition worsens with age. If you are the one out of three that have this problem, you no longer have to wear eyeglasses.

Because of the new technology many who have worn eyeglasses for years are now learning how to wear contact lenses. If you are not able to wear contacts, make sure to follow all the instructions given to you by your optometrist and his or her staff. You need to keep your contact lenses clean and also learn to take them out and insert them without tearing them, but once you are used to wearing and handling them, you will glad you are now able to wear them.

Contacts are not more comfortable to wear than ever before. If you ask people years ago what they would have changed about their lenses, they would say that they wished that they were more comfortable to wear. Well, companies listened, and now there are contact lenses that are very comfortable to wear.

The biggest complaint was that the contacts caused a dry eye syndrome which led to discomfort. But new technology has helped solve that problem. Many also use rewetting drops to make sure their eyes will not dry out.

One other new technology that has made wearing contact lenses more comfortable is the addition of silicon gel to the lens material. This allows the lens to breathe in a sense, so that your eyes do not dry out. This is a large improvement for those who would wear lenses if there was no eye irritation.

contact lenses now come with UVB and UVA protection. This protects the eye from damaging light rays. This is a protection that many contact lens wearers did not have before.

Sometimes, as you know if you wear contacts, it is difficult to find your contacts when they are in the case because they blend in with the box. But now contacts have a blue tint so they are easier to see in the box.

Designer Contact Lenses Enhance Outlook For Best Fit

July 11th, 2010

Contact lenses are worn by twenty-eight to thirty-eight million people in the United States, and 125 million worldwide. Among designer contact lenses, almost ninety percent of people in the United States wear soft lenses, with the remaining people opting for rigid gas permeable lenses. Soft lenses in the United States have a predominantly spherical design to correct farsightedness or nearsightedness.

Women are the chief consumer group. More than fifty percent of them use the soft contact. Women are also primary among rigid gas permeable lens users. The age range of those who wear soft lenses is from eighteen to thirty-nine years. On the other hand, those who use rigid gas permeable lenses are often older than forty.

Polo and swimming activities are among sports that can be hindered in performance if you wear glasses. Glasses fog, fall or become diminished in functionality during rain or snow. Choosing contacts instead of glasses can result in a more panoramic, unobstructed field of vision. People can determine their own reasons to wear contacts, from cosmetic to practical.

Brand name, store name and generic contacts offer consumers choices on material, types, breathe ability, and moisture retention. Some high end contacts push the boundaries of comfort further, such as offering deposit-resistant surfaces, and extended wear. A variety of lenses are available to cater to lifestyle and eye care needs.

Disposable contacts can last for a day, a week or a month. Lenses for a specific eye conditions are available. Toric lenses help patients with astigmatism with special design features. Astigmatism occurs when the cornea is misshapen or there’s a lens defect. Bifocal lenses are available to correct farsightedness.

A light blue tint to facilitate finding lenses is standard among most contacts. For cosmetic changes, opaque lens can be used to change dark-colored eyes. Accentuate light-colored eyes with tint from enhancement contacts. To create a new eye color, color tint lens can be used. The center of the eye is devoid of color, allowing you to have vision corrections without the obstructions of a color overlay. Irritation, blurriness or obstruction of vision can result from cosmetic lenses.

In general, the use of lenses can result in eye health problems, including irritation, redness or infection. Your physician can help reduce risk and improve eye health. The key to eye infection prevention is to follow guidelines from physicians as well as manufacturers.

Lens cleaning is required each time they are extracted from your eye. Tap water will not clean contacts. Saline solution or multipurpose cleaning solution will clean contacts. Beware, though, saline will not disinfect. Do not re-use, discard used cleaning solution. Once used, solution is contaminated. Store contacts in a solution that is fresh from the bottle. The bottle should always be stored with a closed, clean top. Designer contact lenses, no matter which are selected, should be properly maintained and stored for the best eye health and vision.

How To Deal With Milk-teeth

June 13th, 2010

The first set of teeth that humans get are frequently called milk teeth. There are only twenty milk teeth and they usually appear in pairs, those on the lower, biting jaw usually appearing first. The first teeth usually appear in the sixth or seventh month and the complete dentition period can last from 18 to 30 months. However, there is a lot of variance and many babies vary from this precedent in many ways.

The procedure of dentition for babies is often very painful, but it is also totally necessary and there is very little that can be done to assist the child. However, if you keep in touch with your doctor or midwife, things should go well. One of the potential problems is infection. With the teeth breaking through the gums, bacteria can easily invade, so it is a period to watch what your baby puts into its mouth while teething.

There are two trends in teething: problem-free and problematic. We will look at them both. Most babies that have been breast fed, handle teething better than other babies, but not all. This does not mean that you should breast feed, it is only an observation – teething must still hurt.

The symptoms of teething are: inflamed gums, increased saliva and red cheeks. In addition, teething babies chew on anything within reach and become more thirsty. Because the baby’s gums are tender, it will not want to drink for long at a time, but being more thirsty, it will have to drink more often. It will also become more ill-tempered and cry a lot more than customary.

In order to relieve these symptoms, exercise your baby as much as you can, especially in the fresh air. It will make it tired. Feed often, but not for long periods of time. Some kind of teething ring is fitting at this time as you can ensure that it is clean and antiseptic. Chewing seems to ease the pain, but it might only be a distraction. No matter, anything that works is good.

Different countries have different traditions. Some European countries (used to) give licorice root, honey or other sweet products to divert the baby during teething, but this practice has largely been discredited, because of evidence that a chubby child will become a chubby adult.

Your midwife will be able to give you plenty of advice and there are new products and ideas appearing every year, so you would be wise to devote some of the little time that you now have left as a parent to joining a website or a blog on teething babies.

Tray-based Teeth Whitening

June 7th, 2010

Everybody desires bright, shiny, flawless teeth. Having flawlessly shaped teeth just means going to the dentist’s habitually – at least every six months, but have you ever asked yourself why your teeth become discolored? What it is that stains them?

There are several reasons why teeth become stained. Dark coloured teeth or a tendency towards discoloration can be hereditary. Drinking lots of black tea, black coffee, red wine or Coca Cola is discolouring. Too much fluoride can cause staining. Over fervent brushing with an abrasive tooth paste or smokers’ tooth powder will wear the enamel off which will expose the grey dentin below the surface. Smoking will blemish your teeth. Some antibiotics can cause teeth yellowing. Old fillings can discolour your teeth and teeth discolour as a matter of course as you get older.

The correct and regular use of a good quality tooth paste will help keep discolouration at bay, but there are two kinds of staining: intrinsic and extrinsic staining. Tooth paste with inbuilt tooth whitener will help keep extrinsic (surface) staining in check, but tooth paste cannot touch intrinsic staining (beneath the surface). If you want to get at the intrinsic staining, you will have to use a special teeth whitening agent.

There are two major routes to teeth whitening: the professional route and the DIY route. There are several kinds of professional whitening, but they are all very alike in that they typically involve gels to deliver the whitening agent and a light (laser) to trigger it. These systems are applied in a dental surgery.

DIY teeth whitening systems usually involve trays which fit over your teeth, in essence providing a tub of whitening gel for your teeth. The trays are half filled with whitening gel and then pressed over the teeth, Obviously, the gel comes into contact with the teeth and the peroxide bleaching agent will supply oxygen to the teeth in order to lift the discolouration.

After 30-60 minutes the chemicals in the gel have been used up and the session is completed. What actually matters here is that the trays are a good fit. Some people do find it tricky to get trays to fit their mouth, but they can have dentists make up trays specially for them. This is a lot more costly though. Dentists agree that the DIY use of bleaching trays is relatively safe and will improve your teeth by 2-3 shades.

Dentists use more powerful solutions of whitening agent than are generally available to the public and some claim that coupled with an actifying laser, their systems are far more effective than trays. However, there are many dentists and clients who dispute the claim asking for proof. There does not seem to be any.

Actually, teeth whitening is an on-going procedure. A session in a dentist’s chair will keep your teeth shining for a year. DIY techniques have to be repeated on a regular basis, but for both kinds of whitening, you have to play your part too. You cannot just whiten and forget. You have to maintain, which means recurrent brushing twice a day with a good tooth paste; gargling with anti-plaque mouthwash; and gargling with water after drinking red wine, black tea or black coffee.

Teeth Whitening Products: A Review

June 5th, 2010

Many people now regard teeth whitening products as one of life’s necessities, it has become so imperative to them to have white teeth. There has been a huge boost to the sales of teeth whitening products because people feel that they need whiter teeth for their self-confidence or their jobs.

There are essentially two ways of getting whiter teeth: professional or home whitening.

Professional Whitening: this necessitates a journey to the dentist or other dental hygienist. Most dental experts endorse only one product, so it is better to pick the product rather than the dentist, if you have a predilection for one whitening system over another.

A professional teeth whitening session will begin with an inspection of your teeth, as any remedial work will have to be carried out first. Then the plaque will be scraped off and your teeth will be polished. At this juncture, you and your dentist will be able to decide how much whiter your teeth should be. The colour of your teeth will be compared to a chart and the shade will be noted for evaluation later. They may even take a photograph.

The actual teeth whitening session usually lasts an hour, during which you can watch TV or listen to music. The outcome will be visible after the hour. The cost is very much higher than any other form of teeth whitening

Home or DIY Whitening: there are dozens of home teeth whitening products on the market which are meant for use at home without professional supervision. Because of this, DIY products are apt to be weaker than professional ones and so they take longer to realize the same effect.

DIY whitening is an on-going process, but you will need to read the directions that come with the product to find out what you need to do. Typically, you may have to whiten your teeth for one week every month.

There are also conventional home remedies such as bicarbonate of soda and lemon juice, which has very similar results, but you would have to use them once or twice every week to maintain your teeths’ colouration.

When purchasing products for home use, be sure to look at the contents. If you do not know what the names mean, look them up on the Internet before buying. Linked with the ingredients is the strength of those ingredients. For instance, a product label may state than hydrogen peroxide makes up 60% of the product. You could look up hydrogen peroxide and see if there are any warnings about using concentrations over 50%.

If you go for a professional treatment session, take note of how well you are treated. Are you satisfied? Did they phone you up a few days later to see if there were any problems? If you are not totally happy, maybe you should try home remedies next time

If you use a DIY product, do they have a good website? Does it tell you a lot bout the product’s ingredients? Are the instructions complete and easy to follow? Is there a helpline? Again, if you feel uncomfortable for any reason, try another product.

Anti Aging Skin Care Techniques

May 17th, 2010

Are you worried that your skin is aging prematurely? Do you think that it is sagging and wrinkling too early? Well, do not give up hope yet, because we are going to look at simple answers to anti aging skin care.

It might be wise to first have a full medical check up before you take on a course of skin care. This is not an example of the modern lunacy of extreme caution, but it is a good idea to find out whether your premature skin aging condition is genuine or imagined.

If it is authentic, there may be a deep-seated root reason such as thyroid or liver problems. Evidently, if you have such an illness, there is not much you can do about your skin, until you sort the reason out first. Being the biggest organ of our body, the skin often mirrors internal issues like an early warning system. If you have not had a full check up for a long time, it would be a good idea anyway.

Men’s and women’s skins are different in general. A dermatologist would often recommend a facial cream containing vitamin B5 and witch hazel for men with skin suffering from overexposure, while a woman undergoing the same issue would only need vitamin B5.

Petrolatum was, and often still is, a common constituent of skin care creams, however, dermatologists now advise that it be avoided. Therefore, check the label of any skin cream that you are offered for the existence of petrolatum and avoid it like the plague.

It is imperative to read the label of any skin care product before you buy it, but there is little possibility of most people remembering the Latin or chemical names of those ingredients that should be avoided. There are thousands of chemicals that should be avoided, if you want to use natural skin care products.

There is a good rule of thumb that can help you decide whether a skin care product is full of chemical compounds and that is: if you can not pronounce it easily, it is long and there are x’s, y’s and z’s in it, then it probably is a man-made chemical compound and you would be better off avoiding it.

Remember that there are many straightforward skin care techniques, if you are just maintaining your skin. Wash often using a soap that is not too severe and that is not over-perfumed; but do not wash so often that your skin loses its natural oils and becomes dry. Apply moisturizer to your body once a day after a shower or bath and give the moisturizer time to soak in before you towel yourself dry.

If you go out in cruel weather like wind or cold, moisturize before you go out and cover up as much of your skin as you can. Shower and moisturize when you get back. It is better to have a small pot of expensive but very beneficial cream, in particular for your face, than a large container of something that is little better than mayonnaise.
